I had several discussions with people who want to tell their life story but they don’t want to do it alone.
You don’t have to.
The beauty of audio recordings is that I can put as many people on the phone as you want. Participants simply have to be on separate phones.
The strength of good audio recordings is in the preparation and I suggest that if you want several people on the phone at the same time, you should gather as a group and discuss what you want to talk about. A couple of people used this tactic and found it to be a lot of fun.
I will guide the group through another pre-interview and the recording.
The trick is to keep that level of fun and informality and bring it to the recording. The more spontaneous and interactive, the better the result.
And remember, you can try an audio recording as a group and if you don’t like it, we don’t use it. You have complete control.
If you like the result, we place the recoding on a website and add some descriptions and photos “or” you just keep the results on a disc.
If interested, Google+ now offers group video recordings.
The concept is known as crowdsourcing and is used for everything from making corporate decisions to creating movies, see http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/10/10/us-amazon-hollywood-crowd-idUSBRE8990JH20121010 .
