We’re in the process of massive house cleaning and de-cluttering. In short, we’re looking at everything and throwing stuff out or giving things away.
We are also reviewing what we have which includes a ton of family history and connections. Every item carries its own story. From photographs to high school graduations to letters from parents, it’s impossible to do this without multiple trips down memory lane. It’s a reason to give thanks for people who have contributed to our lives.
I write this several days from Thanksgiving with the knowledge that families and friends will soon gather and reminisce. They will look at photographs and mementos and have the same experiences we had during our house cleaning.
With all these memories, it’s a wonderful opportunity to record friends and family. What a great time to gather and tell the stories that bring meaning to our lives.
While we pause to give thanks to our creator and acknowledge those close to us, be equally appreciative of a chance to record what you hear.
As we go through our boxes of family history, it’s impossible not to be moved by the memories.
You will undoubtedly have the same experience during Thanksgiving.
As stated throughout the articles on this site, there are plenty of free resources for recording loved ones. Take advantage of a unique opportunity this Thanksgiving.
I hope all have a wonderful and meaningful holiday.
